Jud Wiebe hiking trail

The Jud Wiebe trail is a local's favorite on the sunny side (north) of town. An in-shape local walking or jogging at a consistent pace could probably complete it in about an hour or two, but Jay and I stretched it out to three hours since we stopped a lot, took pictures and ate snacks. We wanted to get outside today after we found out a big snowstorm is coming in tonight.

The trail begins right off of a neighborhood road and ends on Tomboy Road, which leads up to Imogene Pass.

We had to hike over the snow quite a bit, despite being on the sunny side of town. This actually made me a little irritable. I'm ready for the snow to melt and if we misstepped out of the previous hiker's footprints, we would sink in the snow up to our knees.

This is the place to sit and rest and have a snack and enjoy the views. We looked across the canyon and named all of the ski runs that we could see. I said, "When we're over there, we look over here, and when we're over here, we look over there." Well, it was funny at the time. We've literally been all over the place on the mountains and hills surrounding Telluride since we've skied, hiked, and drove the Jeep on Imogene and Black Bear Passes.

It will still be a few weeks before any of the aspens have leaves. This picture makes it look like it's not even spring yet.

I call this photo "Ryan and Amanda aspen graffiti." Has Ryan been up here destroying the trees? :)

Right after we crossed this bridge, we were in the snow for what seemed like forever.

A bear paw print!! The print was definitely too wide and big to be a dog.

A great view of the ski runs and Telluride.
