Box Cañon Falls, aka Box Canyon Falls

Ryan and I had been to the Box Canyon Falls in Ouray when we were teenagers, but Jay, Amanda and the kids had never seen it. Jay drove Ryan and Garrett over Imogene Pass to get to Ouray, while Amanda, Parker, the girls and I drove on the highway and went to the Ouray Toy Store and the park while we waited on them. The plan was to go to the Ouray Hot Springs after Box Canyon Falls, but the weather was not cooperating. It was cloudy and raining when we went to see the falls, but still beautiful and worth paying the cheap admission.

The kids on the trail leading to the falls.

I think Box Canyon Falls should win an award for most difficult to photograph waterfall. Actually, you can't even see the entire waterfall because the canyon is so narrow.

Looking up out of the narrow canyon, you can see the bridge on the left that you can hike up to.

Looking down from the top of the stairs.

The water flowing out of the canyon.

Maralee was a little bit scared on the stairs next to the waterfall. I'm not sure if it was because you can see through the stairs or if it was the loud noise of the waterfall. You almost have to shout to talk to each other down there.

Garrett and Savanna on the trail we hiked up to the bridge.

The bridge over the top of Box Canyon Falls.

Cloudy view of Ouray.
