Crystal, Colorado

The easiest way to get to the old mining camp of what used to be Crystal City is from Marble and before the actual entrance to Schofield Pass. The road is rough all the way to the Crystal Mill and requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Along the narrower part of the road I noticed remains of a truck down below.

The first view of the Crystal Mill, otherwise know as the Dead Horse Mill or Lost Horse Mill.

This mill is said to be one of the most photographed places in Colorado. Photos of it in the fall are really amazing.

Not far past the mill is the township of Crystal. There are a few people that live there in the summertime. They have running water and solar powered electricity. Roger Neal, author of the Crystal Tales Books lives here and sells his books out of his cabin. Garrett and Savanna bought Creepy Crystal Tales Volumes 1 and 2. I kind of wish I had bought his original book Crystal.....What Really Happened. Maybe I should contact him and try to buy a copy.

The Crystal General Store was open and we bought some cool rocks and candy bars. The people that live there were all really nice and were happy to have some tourists stop in. We were the first car that had driven through that day.
