Cloudy Day at Woods Lake

Woods Lake is a short drive from Telluride, about 21 miles southwest and up Fall Creek Road. The lake sits at just over 9,000 feet in elevation and much of it still has a layer of ice and snow.
The campground looks pretty nice and may be a good place to camp this summer when we don't feel like driving very far, plus Maralee really wants to go fishing.
This area has the tallest aspen trees I've ever seen, and of course none of them have leaves yet. The gloomy skies made for some interesting photos.

Maybe in 2-3 weeks you'll have leaves on the aspen at 9000.
Looks like it'll be breathtakingly beautiful at that lake in June.

Hi Lisa,
It looks as though your snow is melting - slow but sure! We followed your lead - we're now in CA! Nice to get a break from the snow!

Love to see spring sweep over the high country. Pussy willows in the lake pic?

Nothing like a Colorado mountain lake!
