Devils Kitchen Camp in the Needles of Canyonlands National Park

We managed to score a backcountry permit to camp in the Devils Kitchen in the Needles district on Monday. There are only four campsites and apparently they are in high demand in the spring and fall. Since we arrived on a Monday and the temperature was over 90 degrees, they were all empty. This was the view of the Needles from our campsite. Each site has enough shade to cool off at least 10 to 20 degrees.
We had our own little slot canyon.
Maralee was loving climbing on all of the rocks.
This was the last photo I took as the sun was going down. It was Jay that realized the Needles on the right look like the Magic Kingdom castle in Disneyland. I much prefer being in the Needles than Disneyland!
We were in campsite 3 and wanted to see what the other campsites looked like. This one is campsite 4 and would be great if camping with a group of 10 or so.
The view from campsite 4.
Campsite 2 was similar to 4, but a little bit smaller.
Campsite 1 was our least favorite, but still not a bad place to be!

Love these photos of Needles! It sounds HOT! I can imagine that the rocks would be radiating heat. I bet the children loved the caves and little slot canyons. Have a good 4th, Lisa.

My grandson would love climbing on those rocks too! He has turned into a little dare devil lately.

Thanks for the information on Devil's kitchen. We have a permit for May 23rd and I appreciate the photos and info on each of the sites.
