I thought I had some better "before" pictures taken after we moved here, but I can't find them. There are lots of photos on the Alpine Chapel website. The chapel is located at 122 S. Aspen and service is held on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Our new home for Alpine Chapel is finished and we had our first service yesterday. It is truly an amazing story to have a church built in the town of Telluride. If you have ever spent any time here, you know that it is a major ordeal to have anything built in this town. For years our church has met in different places, but it is nice to have a chapel that is our home. The church was built by Koenig Construction Services. The Koenig's are also church members and our friends. I don't even know how many people were involved in the whole development and who all needs to be thanked, but of course above everything else, God is the one to thank for this huge accomplishment!

My girls had their spring concerts last week. I'm really glad I took a picture of Maralee at home before we went because I could only see the top of her head during the concert. I've been lucky in the past when she has been right in the front. The third grade played recorders instead of singing.
Savanna's band concert was the next night.
This is Savanna and the middle school band playing Blues Machine.

We heard that there is still quite a bit of snow on the Judd Wiebe trail, so we thought we'd try hiking up to Bear Creek Falls on Monday. This first shot is of town at the beginning of the trail. There were several places with snow on the trail, but I didn't take my camera out for most of those spots.

The month of May so far has been cloudy, windy, cold, dusty, boring and just plain uninspiring to do anything outside. Everyone was so thrilled to see a sunny warm day today. We were excited to drive up Last Dollar Road to see one of our favorite views. The aspens are still waiting for leaves.
We were sure we could get through the mud and this little patch of snow.
Uh oh, this guy had to get out of his Land Rover and dig a little bit, but we all made it through this area of snow okay which was slightly downhill, but that also meant we had to turn around pretty soon and drive back up it.
Sure enough we got stuck. The Land Rover was still able to move around, so thank goodness we had a rope and they could pull us back several times until Jay was able to get over the snow. Unfortunately we had all emptied our cars of our shovels and both wives were wearing sandals. In our defense, we didn't know our husbands would be taking us through the snow today!
Thank goodness we made it out of there and didn't end up like this elk.
I was so happy to get out of there, but unfortunately the Land Rover was stuck really bad. We had to go home for Jay to get the CJ to go back and winch them out. I stayed home during that part of the adventure so I don't have any photos, but everyone did make it back to town intact without any damage to our vehicles. I guess we need to have a little more patience in waiting for the snow to melt, but at least the day wasn't boring!

Monday through Wednesday of this week was Savanna's 7th grade camping trip to the Colorado National Monument and Fruita. Jay went along as a parent volunteer. I let Savanna take my old camera and she took one photo at the Monument. Unfortunately the camera battery died pretty quickly after Savanna took about 70 photos on the bus similar to this one.

We have enjoyed a warm and windy Mother's Day here in Telluride. After church we walked to the park and to lunch. This picture was taken in the same spot two years ago. Look how much the kids have grown since then!
Me and the girls at Smuggler's.
Garrett at the park.
We thought it would be a good day to fly kites, but the wind picked up like crazy. Savanna's little fish kite was being stubborn.
