Belated Birthday

With all of my vacation blogging, I overlooked posting about Garrett's birthday! Garrett turned 17 on August 25. Last week Garrett went to Denver to MEPS and is now in the delayed entry program for the Marine Corps. He will likely leave for basic training in August 2012, entering the Marines exactly 20 years after Jay got out. We are so proud of him!

He is a leader. Happy Birthday Garrett! I can't believe he'll soon graduate.

my 13 yr old son wants to become and marine and you just made me realize just how close a reality that is. i take it that your son isn't going to college first? we are still tossing that one around. did he have marine rotc in high school?

Garrett chose not to go to college first, but he will have the GI Bill for college when he gets outl, which is the same thing my husband did. He wasn't in ROTC either.

thanks lisa. i think college is our sons first option so that he can go in as an officer...but he really doesn't like school so much, so we shall see. he is also trying to get us to move so that he can attend a high school with a marine rotc...glad to see he has his priorities straight =o)
