Hanging Lake

We were able to do yet another lake hike during our Glenwood Springs trip.  Hanging Lake is a very popular hike.  We were there on a Thursday and were surprised at the number of people on the trail.  Most of the time when we hike around Telluride, we hardly see any people, so this was a different experience for us.  The trail head is less than 10 miles east of Glenwood Springs off I-70's Hanging Lake exit.  The hike is only 2 miles round trip, but has an elevation gain of 1,000 feet.  Much of the trail is steep and rocky like the above photo.
Hanging Lake has a fragile ecosystem and people should stay on the boardwalk and not touch the water.  There are also trout in the lake, but no fishing is allowed.
Jay, Garrett and Savanna hiked up and over to the top of Hanging Lake and can be seen in the above photo if you look closely, and zoomed in for the photo below.
Spouting Rock is a cool thing to see, just off of the trail before you get to Hanging Lake, a little steep to get to but short.
